As an environmentalist, I want to bring to light the environmental challenges humanity faces and the solutions that we must undertake. With ocean acidification, deforestation, wildfires, plastic pollution, and climate change, to name a few, our world is on a course toward disaster. I want this blog to give hope when there is despair, and to talk about the beauty of nature like arches and viewpoints. We have already talked about Lake Powell (Wahweap Window and Wahweap Overlook), the Grand Canyon (Moran Point, Angels Window, Navajo Point, and House Rock Valley Overlook), Monument Valley (Ear of the Wind), waterfalls (Morrell Falls), hot springs (Goldbug Hot Springs)
Not every solution is expensive, so just about anyone can help the Earth. Some solutions require someone to get dirty, while some can be done from home. Someone can plant a tree in their backyard, or donate to a nonprofit organization. The Ocean Cleanup, the Ecosia search engine, or Greenpeace all have major positive impacts on the world. Furthermore, politics arguably plays the biggest role in affecting the environment. Creating a zero emission mandate, protecting lands with biodiversity, and subsidizing green technology or environmental protection efforts will have massive impacts around the world.
But many are still worried about what the “climate change is fake” crowd. People that don’t believe in climate change will inevitably decrease their impact on the environment. In California, people will not be able to buy a car unless it is zero emission starting in 2035. So far, 13 states have adopted the zero emission vehicle program that requires all cars sold to be zero emission. These folks will be compelled to adopt environmentally-friendly practices in the future, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
The vast majority of people don’t realize that one small action can have a domino effect on the Earth. Using a plastic bag could cause a fish to eat it and die. When the body decomposes and the plastic bag is released back into the environment, a whale could eat it and starve to death. Without whales, there could be a mass phytoplankton die-off. Carbon dioxide will stay in the atmosphere in higher levels causing the Earth to warm. This affects every single living thing on the planet. One small action can literally save the world.
If you’re young like me, you want the world to be the same as it was for our parents. If you’re older, then you want your children and grandchildren to live the life that you lived. We need to preserve the Earth, and stop the world from entering unimaginable environmental devastation. With this blog, I want to contribute to protect the only planet we have. I hope to spring people to change their lifestyle or become an activist. As Greta Thunberg always says, “you are never too small to make a difference.” I will always believe this, and I hope you will, too.
If you want to help reforest the planet, stop climate change, and increase renewable energy usage, I hope you will join us on our journey. As a company that offsets carbon emissions, we want everyone to easily offset their carbon footprint for little cost. You can offset carbon for as little as $10 a month.
