Mountain View Park, Chino - Everything to Know

Mountain View Park in Chino, California is a 9-acre park with an amazing view of the San Gabriel Mountains. Not only that, there is a playground, 2 softball fields, a gazebo, and lots of picnic tables with grills. We’ll talk all about these in this blog. Before we start, there is a second Mountain View Park in Rancho Cucamonga. It arguably gives you better views of the nearby mountains than this park.

Lawryn's video shows the softball field at the park.

There is a large parking lot off Mountain Avenue with 60 regular spots and 3 handicapped spots. Joshua Place and Bunker Hill Place in the neighborhoods also have some parking if the parking lot is full.

The two ballfields are right next to the parking lot. Although there are benches in each dugout, there is no shade whatsoever. Lucky for the parents, though, is that there is lots of seating. They are made out of concrete instead of the usual bleachers, but parents shouldn’t need to bring any chairs; bring your sunscreen or an umbrella!

The southwestern softball field has an outfield fence 220 feet away from home plate, and the southeastern field does not have one. The fields are mostly used for softball, but they can be used for baseball, too.

Next up are the picnic tables. There are 8 of them in total (most are to the east of the parking lot). 1 has a little bit of shade from trees, 2 have little to no shade, and 3 are underneath a shade shelter - the gazebo. The last two are isolated and shaded next to the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Chino Avenue. Even better is that there are a few barbecue grills, so you and your family can enjoy a nice lunch together.

The restrooms are also next to the parking lot - I’m glad that they built it in such a perfect place. Typically, they are clean, but people have reported them closed. It’s best to go to the bathroom before you leave your house.

There is ample open green space to play games and sports. People will usually play football or soccer at Mountain View Park. The outer parts of the park will have room to have fun.

The sidewalks travel through the parking lot, softball fields, playground, picnic tables, and bathroom; there’s also a sidewalk on two sides of the park. They add up to 0.42 miles. Take your dog on a walk or just enjoy your day!

As you can tell by the name, you can see the San Gabriel Mountains (Mount Baldy, Cucamonga Peak, and Mount Baden-Powell). I highly recommend visiting this park in the winter so you can see the snow-capped mountains.

Richard's review says, "This park has two softball fields, a covered sitting area for parties or bbqs, and a nice play area for children. It's wide open so there are no blind spots for your little ones to hide."

Now onto the playground!

The playground surface is entirely rubber and has some benches to watch while your children play their hearts out.

There are 3 classic slides, a spiral slide, a ladder, games, a bridge, monkey bars, talk tubes, and more. A couple of traditional swings are off to the side.

Bring some sunscreen, there isn’t any shade over the playground.
